We are really
lucky. Not everyday such an overpowering
opportunity comes to your door. But being honest, this opportunity of
participating in a Comenius Program was also accompanied by hard
work. We had to squeeze our time and to make the most of every
second, we worked in pairs and in groups, we did many researches,
powerPoints, debates, a conference… but the fruit of our labor was
to spend 10 amazing days with all expenses paid in the cool country
of The Netherlands, speaking English all the time and enjoying the
stay with our Dutch partners.
From the first
minute to the end of the exchange, we had a fantastic time and we
were all day learning from each other… different culture, different
education system….
The trip started the
10th of May.
At seven o'clock in the morning we were already on the bus heading
to our first stop, Tours in France. There we visited the city and we
had dinner in a Mc Donald. We were so tired because of the long bus
trip that we spent our first night in the hotel. The next day, we
continued to our destination and at the drop of a hat, we were in the
flat country of Holland , in Bolsward with our Dutch friends.
We were welcomed at
Marne College by our Dutch partners. They offered us something to eat
and then we played some games to break the ice between our new
families and us. We really had fun. After that, we went home with our
Dutch partners and their families.
The week got off to
a better start. The following day we attended some lessons in Marne
College and we could see the differences between the Dutch educative
system and ours. In the afternoon, we visited Bolsward.
Next day, it was
devoted to The European Union. We had a conference, debate with our
partners about the future of Europe and we presented our works about
different aspects of the European Union.
The following day,
we went to Amsterdam. There, we went to the Rijks Museum and could
admire wonderful pictures by some of the most famous Dutch artists.
We also visited the center of Amsterdam including the famous Red
District. We also had time for shopping.
Next day we went by
ferry to Ameland Island where we rode bikes and played stratego in
the forest. We also went to a Music festival which was celebrated in
Leeuwarden, the capital of Frisia, and to an adventure Park . We did
many activities , we were practicing our English at the same time
that we were having fun.
We had a really
great time in The Netherlands and we are sure we are going to miss
our Dutch friends.
Here you can see
some pictures of our journey to The Netherlands.
