We’ve got
answers from our partners, and some of them gave us very good ideas. We’ll see
how we can add them to our projects. We’re starting giving them shape.
It’s hard
work, though, but sharing it with our classmates is good fun!
27th NOVEMBER 2013
We’re
already writing our Project on a Word document.. We’re also looking for images
so that it gets more visual.
The
teachers told us to send an e-mail message to our partners to start sharing all
the information and ask for and offer them new ideas.
20th NOVEMBER 2013
We‘ve found
lots of information about the different topics on the net and now we have to
start selecting what we consider the most important.
Thus, we’ll
be able to start writing our project on a Word document in a short while.
13th NOVEMBER 2013
This week we created a group of Whatsapp with the Dutch students. We’ve been talking with them since then, and we already know a lot of things about them. They don’t stop writing us messages! The teachers tell us that we also have to work together with them through e-mail messages. Also, we’re still working on the projects. Now we’re looking for information on the web about each of the topics we were given. If we have it hard to find information, we’ll have to ask our Dutch partners.
6th NOVEMBER 2013
After creating the five groups, the teachers gave us the names of the five different topics we were going to work on in a more profound way, one topic for each group. The five different topics were The Netherlands: its history, geography, economy, government, folk culture and food.
We started working hard on the project and still have got lots to do, but we’ve got a few weeks left to finish. Teachers asked us to do the project first on a Word document, and then on a PowerPoint presentation.
It is being a nice work experience about a different culture and also we’re enjoying it because we’re sharing it with our classmates.
While we were working altogether in the Computers Room, two of the English teachers had an information meeting with our parents. There, our parents were informed about the Comenius Programme and about the project our school is going to share with the Dutch school, Marne College.

Today we
were asked to write an article about the Comenius Programme for the school
newspaper The Crisol. The teachers
gave us a few web pages from which we could find plenty of information.
We learnt a
lot of things about the Programme and how it works, not only in Spain, but also in the rest of Europe.
The teachers chose the best article and published it in the newspaper. Our
classmate Ana Sampedro was the writer. Congratulations, Ana!

OUR COMENIUS PROGRAMME:
NORTH AND SOUTH: BUILDING BRIDGES WITH LANGUAGES.COM
This is a
programme financed by the European Union: two different schools give their
students the opportunity to practice their foreign language skills and acquaint
themselves with the language of a partner country.
The title
of our school project is: “ North and
South: Building Bridges with languages.com” and it is a bilateral project
between our school and “Marne College”, a secondary school situated in a town
called Bolsward, in The Netherlands
Students
involved in a bilateral partnership are expected to learn at least the basics
of the language used in a partner institution so we are going to learn a bit of
Dutch. To communicate between us we will use English.
During the project, students and teachers in
both countries work together on a common theme and produce a joint end product.
Each participating institution must carry out a class exchange with its partner
institution of a duration of minimum 10 days each. During the class exchanges,
students work together at school and are hosted in each other’s families. The cooperation
should not only be limited to the exchanges, but also the activities should
cover the whole project period. School partnerships help pupils and teachers to
acquire and improve skills not only in the topic or subject area on which the
project is focused, but also in terms of teamwork, social relations, planning
and undertaking project activities and using information and communication
technologies.
I think
that this project will give us not only the opportunity to improve our English,
but also the possibility of advancing a step towards our maturity as
individuals. The stay of 10 days away from our families will help us to be more
mature. And of course we should be proud
because we rarely have these opportunities in life, and it is amazing
the possibility of establishing a friendship with a person from another
country. In short, it will be a fun experience and above all we must
acknowledge the enormous effort made by our teachers to have the opportunity to
participate in this exchange. And it is also amazing that all the bilingual
students from the 4th year can go without looking at economic
problems, because it is going to be completely free.

When all the projects were finished, we presented in pairs the Powerpoint presentations about Friesland, which we had been working on in previous lessons. We showed it to all our bilingual classmates and to the teachers We talked about traditions, government, sports, food, its flag, geography… etc. Afterwards, our teachers asked us some questions just to check if we had learnt anything about the region. Then we did the groups in which we were going to work on during the year.
It was good fun to do the presentations and also show them to the another bilingual class. Some of them had funny things and we laughed a lot. We spent a delightful afternoon.

After doing the project about The Netherlands,
we focused on Friesland (or Frisia), the province where Marne College
is situated. We grouped ourselves in pairs and each pair did a Powerpoint presentation
about the province. I must say that we’re learning lots of things about this unknown country. You

The first assignment we were asked to do was
trying to investigate about different aspects of the country we are going to
visit next year, that is The
Netherlands.
We started searching for information on the net
about general facts, and then we wrote everything we thought that was important
on a Microsoft Document. We wrote about its history, geography, government, customs,
traditions, sports, food and other interesting things related to the country. These are some of the

Hi there!
We are the students of 4th year of ESO from the
Bilingual Section in the IES Cristo del Socorro, in Luanco, Asturias, and today, we’re going to start a
new diary about the Comenius Programme we’re about to begin this school year.
Yesterday
afternoon, we were at school like another Wednesday, when the teachers asked us
to join in the Computers Room.
There, they
showed us a Powerpoint presentation about last year’s school trip to Marne College
They said
that in the following two years we would be able to do the school exchange with
Marne College
Most of us
were very happy to hear this, but there were some students who, at the
beginning, hesitated a little bit. Later, they thought again about the
opportunity they were being offered and,
in the end, they decided they would
become part of it too.
We really
think it is going to be a great experience for us!
